A Virgin River fan has come up with a touching idea for an unexpected reunion in Season 7 — and it’s more plausible than it might seem.
The Netflix hit is known for its strong ensemble cast, many of whom are familiar faces from beloved TV series. Now, with Season 7 on the horizon, some fans are hoping to see another familiar TV icon join the fold.
The series — centered around Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge) and her relationship with Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) — is gearing up for its next installment, and speculation is already running wild following the cliffhanger of Charmaine’s disappearance during Mel and Jack’s wedding.
Amid the fan theories, one Reddit user shared a creative casting suggestion that would serve as both a clever nod to TV history and an emotional moment for a beloved character: Muriel St. Claire, played by Stargate SG-1 alum Teryl Rothery.
“This is totally self-indulgent, but I’d love to see Amanda Tapping guest star — just for the chance to see her reunite with Teryl Rothery,” the fan wrote. “They were both in Stargate SG-1, and I think it would be sweet if Amanda played a former acting colleague of Muriel’s who visits Virgin River for a few episodes.”
The fan also noted that Tapping and Rothery are close friends in real life, which would make such a reunion even more meaningful. The idea would also provide a heartfelt moment for Muriel, whose recent arc has taken a more emotional turn.
In Season 6, Muriel revealed she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and began undergoing treatment. Her journey has been a deeply moving subplot, and introducing a familiar face from her (and the actress’s) past could offer both comfort and a new dimension to her story.
While there’s no official word on guest stars yet, fans clearly love the idea of combining nostalgia with character development — and this kind of reunion would certainly strike a chord.
