Virgin River fans issue same demand for season 6 as they slam ‘awful’ Mel choice
Fans of the hit Netflix series are hoping the upcoming sixth season makes some serious changes to their favourite Virgin River resident, Mel Monroe.
Virgin River fans have slammed an “awful” choice the series made in season five.
As Netflix subscribers eagerly await the small-town drama’s sixth season, a number of viewers revealed they have the same demand for a major change.
They all agreed Mel Monroe’s (played by Alexandra Breckenridge) wardrobe needs a serious upgrade after some questionable choices last season.
One fan took to Reddit this week with some strong words for the show’s producers.
“Am I the only one hoping that she is dressed better in season 6?” they wrote.
“I am rewatching the odd episode of season 5 and I forgot how old lady like they dressed her.”
Mel may have been dressing down in season five after becoming pregnant and leaving her job at Virgin River’s clinic, so she had more leisure time and dressed more casually.
Sadly, her pregnancy ended in a miscarriage, leaving her and fiance Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) devastated.
Even so, fans are keeping their fingers crossed she has better luck in season six, and perhaps some more opportunities to get her glad rags on.
“The long, billowy dress and outer cape she wore to the dinner at Brie’s was awful,” another viewer replied. “What were they thinking of?”
A second commented: “I’ve been saying this! What was all that frumpy stuff? Hoping for a different wardrobe team this time around.”
Taking a look back at previous instalments, another said: “I’m rewatching season one and two and she looked so good at the start!
“Cute, casual outfits with great boots, little sleeveless jackets, autumnal colours. What the hell happened in those later seasons?”
And a final fan replied: “Easily my biggest pet peeve with the show.
“The frumpy cardigans with the high neck shirts? I’m begging for her to have better style next season. It’s currently giving middle school teacher in their 50s.”
There was plenty of drama in town during season five, including a forest fire which could have been devastating were it not for some quick thinking from Hope McCrea (Annette O’Toole).
