Virgin River fans issue demand for season 6 with one thing Netflix ‘should do better’
Fans of the hit show Virgin River have been disappointed by a particular failure by Netflix to ensure the drama’s success.
Virgin River fans are issuing a strong demand for Netflix to bear in mind when the sixth season of the hit streaming drama finally rolls around.
The beloved small-town drama follows Mel Monroe (played by Alexandra Breckenridge), a woman who moves to the idyllic Northern California locale after a tragedy.
Once settled in she quickly falls for local bar owner and ex-Marine Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) and befriends many of the town’s residents.
However, as secrets come to light and the townsfolk face their own challenges she soon discovers small-town life is not quite as simple as she thought.
A sixth season of Virgin River is slated to hit Netflix before the end of this year, but one fan took to Reddit recently with the hopes the streamer will improve on one key thing.
They claimed promotion for the series has been sub-par in recent years, holding it back from becoming one of the platform’s bigger hits.
“Just Putting It Out There,” their post began. “Netflix better promote the new season 6 with lots of opportunities to see our favorites on all the various outlets.
“Watching all the Emily in Paris cast showing up everywhere. Same with Bridgerton when it debuted their latest season.
“I came late to the show, started watching just before season 5 came out. Because I’m getting old and some days feel like I have tapioca brain, I just don’t recall as much promo love for VR.
“I think the cast can be given a lot of credit for all the promoting they did on their own, via IG etc.”
Alexandra regularly posts updates for the series on her Instagram and has just started a podcast with her co-star Zibby Allen, who plays Jack’s sister Brie, to interview the show’s main and supporting cast.
However, it’s rare that fans get to see the cast being interviewed by major outlets despite Virgin River having one of Netflix’s most devoted fanbases.
One fan echoed the sentiment, replying with an exciting update: “I’ve been thinking exactly the same my friend. Alex said in her podcast that they did a photoshoot for S6 for the first time ever!
“I got the feeling they were planning to ramp up the promotion for S6 but I’ll be surprised if it’s anywhere near the same level as for the other two shows you mentioned.
“For Emily in Paris, they seem to be riding on Lily Collins’s fame. Not sure glamourous premieres and stylish outfits would work for Virgin River, but hopefully they’ll find a way to expose the cast & promote the show in tune with the VR vibes.”
Another added: “I’ve never seen [Emily in Paris or Bridgerton], nor do I want to. I don’t even know who the actors are, but Martin Henderson is wildly popular internationally.
“One of the VR groups I’m in has over 45K members. The ladies love him and Netflix would do well to do a bit more promotion.”
A release date for season six is still unconfirmed, so could we start seeing more promotion once Netflix finally reveals when the new episodes will air?
