Virgin River fans issue concerns as season 6 release date finally confirmed with first-look
Some new stills from the upcoming season of Virgin River have been unveiled as a release date for the hit Netflix show’s return is finally confirmed
Virgin River fans are ecstatic after the release date for season six has finally been announced – and it’s coming before the end of the year.
The popular Netflix show’s official Instagram page released a crop of new stills from the forthcoming episodes, including an emotional moment between Mel Monroe (played by Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson).
Also revealed was a touching scene with Vernon ‘Doc’ Mullins (Tim Matheson) and his wife Hope McCrea (Annette O’Toole) looking after a horse.
Plus, Lizzie’s (Sarah Dugdale) pregnancy is much further along than the last time we saw her and Preacher’s (Colin Lawrence) romance with Kaia Bryant (Kandyse McClure) is still going strong.
Jack’s sister Brie Sheridan (Zibby Allen), Mike Valenzuela (Marco Grazzini), Dan Brady (Ben Hollingsworth), Muriel (Teryl Rothery) and Dr Cameron Hayek (Mark Ghanimé) will also all return.
In the caption, the post confirmed: “We’ve missed them so much! Get a first look at what’s ahead in season 6. Counting the days until Virgin River comes back December 19th.”
Fans were thrilled the gift of Virgin River season six will be arriving just in time for Christmas.
However, some devotees admitted they have some concerns based on the new first look and some intriguing comments made by the cast.
Over on Reddit, one viewer said: “Super excited. However, a little concerned about the Mel and Jack storyline.”
They went on to claim: “Listening to the ‘I Like You Very Much’ podcast (from Alexandra and Zibby ) interview with Martin, it seems that they don’t have a lot of scenes together.
“More like Mel and Jack go off in different directions to continue to resolve their own issues, then come back together.”
While another said: “Urgh that’s what I was thinking too!! But she did mention they have at least one steamy scene? So hope that makes up for it!
“It is conflicting though as reports have said it’s heavily around Jack / Mel again (and the writers have apparently listened), but who knows.”
This season is reportedly centred around the build-up to Mel and Jack’s wedding, so they could mostly have separate storylines before a romantic crescendo to cap off the 2024 installment.
Meanwhile, back on Instagram, another fan said simply: “If even one episode or two episodes is like last season’s I’m not watching it. So I hope the writers got it right this time.”
To which someone else replied: “I agree. The last season was hard to watch. It wasn’t like all the other seasons, it was almost depressing. I hated watching her lose another baby, it was too much.”
Hopefully, with the holidays just around the corner, Virgin River will be a slightly more cheery watch this time around.
