Virgin River Director Signs With Paradigm Amid Award-Winning Run

EXCLUSIVE: A Bold New Chapter for One of Canada’s Most Versatile Visual Storytellers

Paradigm has officially signed acclaimed Canadian director Felipe Rodriguez, whose impressive resume includes helming episodes of Netflix’s fan-favorite Virgin River and ABC’s hit medical drama The Good Doctor. The signing marks a significant career milestone for Rodriguez, who is currently directing the season finale of Virgin River—a critical episode as the series wraps filming for Season 7.

A Visionary Behind the Camera

Rodriguez, born in Toronto to Spanish parents, has long been recognized for his cinematic eye and deeply emotive storytelling. He made his early mark as a cinematographer, including on Nat Geo’s Wetback: The Undocumented Documentary, which became known for capturing the first-ever illegal crossing of the Rio Grande on film. That bold project sparked Rodriguez’s debut feature, Kidnap Capital, and set the tone for his fearless, immersive directorial style.

A Portfolio as Diverse as His Lens

Rodriguez’s TV credits span genres and platforms—from crime to romance to horror. He’s directed entire seasons of shows like Netflix’s Slasher: Guilty Party and Omni’s Blood and Water: Fire & Ice, as well as pilots for Hudson & Rex (Citytv) and Ruby and the Well (BYUtv). He also led a stylistic revamp for Hudson & Rex‘s upcoming Season 7.

He recently won Best Director in a Youth Series at the Canadian Screen Awards for his work on Hulu’s The Hardy Boys. In addition, his Hallmark film Never Too Late to Celebrate earned dual nominations at the CSAs and Directors Guild of Canada Awards, with Rodriguez himself racking up six DGC nods in just five years.

A Fluent Visual Communicator

Working seamlessly across English, French, and Spanish, Rodriguez is known for crafting emotionally resonant, visually bold stories. His signature blend of cinematographic precision and human intimacy has made him a go-to director for elevated television.

A New Chapter with Paradigm

In joining Paradigm, Rodriguez aligns with a powerhouse agency celebrated for fostering innovative, globally minded creators.

I’m honoured to join the incredible team at Paradigm, whose reputation for championing bold, diverse voices truly resonates with me,” Rodriguez shared in a statement. “Their global outlook and deep industry reach align perfectly with the kinds of ambitious, visually driven projects I’m drawn to, and I’m excited to build on the momentum of recent years with such a dynamic team.

Rodriguez remains represented by longtime manager Perry Zimel.

As he prepares to close out Virgin River Season 7 with his directorial stamp on its finale, Felipe Rodriguez is poised to become one of the most exciting creative forces in international television.
