Valentine’s in Virgin River? Season 7 May Be Coming Early 2026

Mel Monroe herself is talking — but even she doesn’t know when we’ll return to the red-roofed charm of Virgin River.

In a candid (and slightly hilarious) Instagram Story shared from the Virgin River set in Vancouver, series lead Alexandra Breckenridge offered fans a quick update on where things stand with the long-awaited Season 7. Spoiler alert: It’s still in progress.

“I feel like I’m on day 857 of filming Season 7,” Breckenridge joked to her 1.3 million followers. “We’re almost done, can you believe it? I can’t even believe it. Almost to the finish line. I keep wondering if they’re going to put the show out this year. What do you guys think? Probably, right? If they have it, they’ll probably drop it… this year, 2025. I don’t know any information. I’m the last to know.”

While her update made fans laugh, it also raised the question that’s been on everyone’s mind: When will Season 7 premiere?

💔 Don’t Get Too Hopeful for 2025

Unfortunately, signs are pointing toward a 2026 release. Netflix has yet to confirm a date and — perhaps more telling — Virgin River was not included in the streamer’s mid-2025 or fall 2025 content previews.

With production still ongoing and post-production requiring several months (especially if Season 7 follows the expanded episode format like Season 6), the odds of a late 2025 release are slim. Speculation now leans toward an early 2026 premiere, possibly around Valentine’s Day — a fitting time to return to the romance-laced drama of Jack, Mel, and the rest of the town.

👀 What’s Coming in Season 7?

Plot details are still mostly under wraps, but Season 6’s finale left no shortage of cliffhangers:

  • What happened to Charmaine?

  • Will Mel and Jack actually adopt Marley’s baby?

  • How will newcomers Victoria (played by The Vampire Diaries’ Sara Canning) and Clay (Cody Kearsley of Riverdale) shake up the town?

Victoria arrives with questions about Doc’s past, while Clay is seeking a former foster sister, hinting at major emotional and possibly dramatic developments.

🎬 And What About That Spinoff?

Netflix has been quietly developing a Virgin River prequel about Mel’s parents, first teased through flashbacks in Season 6. While nothing has been greenlit yet, the positive fan response to those emotional scenes makes a full series order seem likely.

Would we watch it? Absolutely. Especially if it captures the same emotional weight and lush Northern California vibes that the original does so well.

🛋️ What to Watch While You Wait

Until Virgin River returns, fans are filling the void with cozy options like:

  • Hallmark’s Unwrapping Christmas movie series (featuring Virgin River’s Alec Santos)

  • Netflix’s Sweet Magnolias

  • Prime Video’s Sullivan’s Crossing (also from Virgin River creator Robyn Carr!)

  • Rewatching Virgin River… again (no judgment here)

📅 Mark Your Calendar… for 2026?

While nothing is official, based on filming timelines, post-production, and Netflix’s 2025 release schedule, we predict that Season 7 will premiere in early 2026 — perhaps February — continuing its tradition of dropping just in time to warm up the winter months.

So hang in there, Virgin River fans. Love, heartbreak, and hot chocolate by the fire will be back soon enough.
