Twists, turns and triangles: Get ready for Virgin River season 6, trailer released

Mel & Jack’s big wedding anchor the new season of hit Netflix show Virgin River. It’s shot in the Vancouver-area

Save the date, Virgin River is back on Netflix Dec. 19 and wedding bells are in the future for lovebirds Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack (Martin Henderson).

Netflix just released a new trailer for the upcoming season 6 and it is a dreamy enticement for a season the streamer says: “promises fresh twists and turns, escalating love triangles, delightful wedding drama, as well as uncovered secrets from Mel’s father’s past.”

Those Mel Monroe (John Allen Nelson) secrets will come to light through flashbacks to the Virgin River of the 1970s.

But every fan knows it’s the Mel and Jack love story that is the star of the show.

“This season is all about the lead-up to Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack’s (Martin Henderson) wedding. “We’re trying to hit all the milestones of the pre-wedding planning, the bachelor and bachelorette parties, the rehearsal dinner,” showrunner Patrick Sean Smith said on the Tudum by Netflix site.

“There’s dress shopping, suit try-ons, and more than one last-minute wrench thrown into the mix for our favourite couple.”

What else can fans expect from the upcoming season, which picks up a few months after Season 5’s Christmas-themed episodes?

“Mel and Jack will advance on their path to parenthood while also turning Lilly’s (Lynda Boyd) farm into their ultimate dream home,” said Smith.

Fans who watched the Season 5 finale know Mel and Jack decided to buy the property after wildfires destroyed the farm.

The return of Virgin River is a big deal for fans and for Hollywood North crews and actors as the series shoots in the Vancouver area.

Some of the locations that fans actually like to visit are Snug Cove on Bowen Island, which plays the actual town of Virgin River. The Watershed Grill in Brackendale stands in for the exterior for Jack’s Bar. And Mel’s perfectly quaint, you can smell the fireplace, cottage is in real life, the cabin/home of the caretaker for Murdo Frazer Park in North Vancouver.
