The upcoming Twilight reboot has a lot to live up to in terms of fan expectations, but it also has a chance to become more beloved and critically acclaimed than the original films. Although the Twilight adaptations have a terrible, there’s no denying that reputation it’s a huge staple in modern adaptations. The Twilight films had many inconsistencies, cut some details from the source material, and changed crucial storylines to be more memorable in the films, and the upcoming Twilight reboot has a chance to remedy that.
The Twilight reboot has an opportunity to fully flesh out the characters, and right the mistakes of the four films. The Twilight films, based on Stephenie Meyer’s books, didn’t stray too far from the books, but it’s one of the most criticized adaptations, and the upcoming reboot has a difficult job in trying to improve their reputation. On top of that, vampire stories have become a tired trend, and even the original Twilight fans are divided about the upcoming show. However, if done right, it has an opportunity to improve the overall outlook on Twilight and take a new approach to the iconic franchise, attracting new viewers in the process.
1. The Twilight Reboot Needs To Handle Special Effects Better Than The Movies
The first Twilight film came out in 2008, and most of its special effects left room for improvement. There is no information on the budget of the upcoming reboot, but, given that technology has advanced a lot since the first film, there are many ways it could improve Twilight when it comes to special effects. The first film did a decent job with the effects, especially with its iconic blue filter, but the rest of the films, which had bigger budgets, limited in this area, and fans would like to see many action-filled scenes and effects play out better in the reboot.
2. The New Twilight Actors Need To Be Age-Appropriate
Fans would like to see age-appropriate actors in the Twilight reboot. Although some of the original Twilight cast were close to their characters’ ages, there were also some big discrepancies. For example, despite Carlisle being 365 years old, he was turned when he was only 23 years old when he was turned, and passed for a 30-year-old. Peter Facinelli was 34 when he took over the role, and Esme was 26, but Elizabeth Reaser, the actress playing her, was 32.
3. The Twilight Reboot Should Have A Better Approach To Bella
Kristen Stewart did a fairly good job portraying the awkward Bella, but Bella’s personality is so much more than just brooding in the books. Bella Swan received a lot of criticism for being two-dimensional and bland, but she is more independent, funny, and self-reliant in the books. In the reboot, fans would love for Bella to have more personality than the one she had in the books, show how she had a job at a hardware store, cooked for Charlie, and had a life outside of Edward. She was introverted and shy at the beginning when moving to Forks, but there was a reason why so many guys wanted her.
4. The Twilight Reboot Needs Indigenous Actors
The Twilight Saga has received criticism when it comes to its lack of Native American actors, and this is something fans want to see fixed in the upcoming reboot. When the first film was released, things were different, but, as times changed for the better, there’s no excuse not to cast Indigenous actors. The reboot series will also be an opportunity to fix Twilight’s Quileute controversy, using its fame to improve the real Quileute tribe.
5. The Twilight Reboot Can Have More Diversity
The Twilight films had some diversity but the reboot could do better since the films are predominantly white. Besides adding Indigenous actors, which should include Jacob Black, there are many opportunities to have a more diverse and inclusive Twilight cast. It would make sense to have a more diverse Cullen clan, and it would make them more interesting. Although the remake shouldn’t change the original main pairings, it has an opportunity to add LGBTQ+ characters and side stories.
