MANILA, Philippines — Netflix is developing an animated series adaptation of “Midnight Sun,” Stephenie Meyer’s companion book to her hit novel “Twilight.”
“Midnight Sun” is a retelling of “Twilight” from the perspective of century-old vampire Edward Cullen who captures the attention of new Forks, Washington resident Bella Swan.
Meyer will serve as an executive producer on the adaptation with her Fickle Fish Films partner Meghan Hibbett alongside Temple Hill Entertainment’s Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen and Picturestart’s Erik Feig and Samie Kim Falvey.
Writer-producer Sinead Daly will pen the script and executive producing the show.
The four novels in the “Twilight” series, released between 2005 and 2008, were popular with young adult readers. It spawned a film franchise starring Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart as Edward and Bella, respectively.
In celebration of the 10th anniversary of “Twilight,” Meyer released the gender-swapped “Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined” in 2015 and followed it up with “Midnight Sun” in 2020.
