Season 23 is increasingly pointing toward Timothy McGee becoming the agency’s next Director after the unexpected loss of Leon Vance. While the promotion hasn’t been confirmed onscreen, recent episodes suggest the procedural is preparing viewers for the transition.
McGee’s move into leadership would mark a historic change for the series. As the longest-serving member of the current team, his departure from fieldwork would leave a noticeable gap alongside Alden Parker and the rest of the squad.
The return of tech operator Curtis Hubley in “Knick Knack” may also be part of CBS’s long-term strategy to strengthen the supporting cast ahead of a possible team reshuffle.
