Tracker’s Justin Hartley Reveals Exciting Details About Jensen Ackles’ Russell Role in Season 2

Tracker’s Justin Hartley Reveals Exciting Details About Jensen Ackles’ Russell Role in Season 2
Tracker is a hit TV series that premiered in early 2024, and CBS isn’t wasting any details this fall by bringing the show back earlier than expected. Lead actor Justin Hartley reunited with Season 1 guest star and Supernatural alum Jensen Ackles in an early Season 2 episode to flesh out the Shaw family’s secrets. Hartley revealed some details about why Russell is returning to reunite with his brother.

Jensen Ackles’ first appearance on Tracker provided a lot of interesting Supernatural information and some answers for Justin Hartley’s Colter. It seemed like Russell had nothing to do with their father’s death, but that revelation was followed by the bombshell that their sister, Dory, knew more than she was letting on when Melissa Roxburgh debuted in the role. Speaking to TV Insider, Hartley previewed Ackles’ return: It’s more about family. We ended the first season with Colter having a lot of questions. He doesn’t even know who he can trust anymore. At the beginning of last season, he thought his brother had something to do with his father’s death, and then he found out, wait, he might not have had anything to do with it. Also, why is Dory hiding all of this?

Dory seems like the normal, outgoing Shaw sibling compared to Russell and Colter, but maybe that’s not the case. The answer to that question may come sooner than expected, as Ackles reunites with Hartley in the second episode of Season 2. But then again, this is Tracker we’re talking about; any answer could come with more questions. The star continues: Sponsored Link Smart Bed Available Starting in 2022 – [See Price] Smart Bed | Search Ads So Russell’s back and Colter has a few questions for him about Dory’s situation and the box she has and does Russell know where it is? Russell’s pretty heroic in Episode 2 too and they get involved in a really dark operation, which is weird. And all of a sudden these government officials start asking about our dad, and you’re like, ‘Oh, what’s this all about?’ So in each episode, maybe Dad gets a little more vindicated, or maybe he’s just completely insane. We don’t know. We’ll dive into that a little more.

Hartley went on to share that Melissa Roxburgh could return, as production on her new show will wrap up before Tracker’s second season, and that Jennifer Morrison’s return to direct Episode 6 could also lead to her character from the Season 1 finale returning at some point. (Season 1 is currently available to stream with a Paramount+ subscription.) Personally, I had some concerns that Jensen Ackles wouldn’t be able to reprise his role as Russell after news broke that he would star in a new spinoff of The Boys, but it’s clear that’s not going to happen. Tracker is missing a permanent cast member for Season 2, however, and it’s unclear what explains Teddi’s absence without actress Robin Weigert.

For now, we’ll just have to wait and see, as Tracker Season 2 is still a few weeks away from premiering. The first episode since the spring season finale will air on CBS on Sunday, October 13 at 8 p.m. ET. That’s at least earlier than the original schedule of late October and earlier than many other CBS hits, including NCIS and FBI.
