The success of the first season led CBS to greenlight a second season even before the first season had finished airing. And now, Hartley has addressed concerns about how the show will handle Teddi’s absence.

When TV Insider asked Hartley about how the story will evolve after Teddi Bruin’s departure, Hartley shared that Teddi’s wife, Velma, will be shown as more of a partner to Reenie in Season 2. “At the end of last season, Reenie decided that she was going to leave her company and do things on her own,” Hartley said. “She has a big change in her life and in a way she teams up with Velma and you’re going to see a lot of them working together, which is a really interesting dynamic. They both have a common goal with some completely different ways of doing their business. Bobby, our computer genius, is working hard. Then we have a couple of really fun surprises for Reenie,” he added.

Hartley’s comments back up what showrunner Elwood Reid told TVLine about Velma’s role in Season 2 in July 2024. “You’re going to see Velma take on a very interesting role with something that was hinted at with the Reenie character in the last few episodes [of the first season],” Reid revealed at the time.
