It’s official: Tracker Season 2 successfully delivered three straight weeks of impressive guest stars, with Justin Hartley’s wife Sofia Pernas making her highly-anticipated return in Episode 3.
Following back-to-back appearances from Manifest‘s Matt Long and Supernatural‘s Jensen Ackles, Pernas returns in Season 2’s third episode as Billie Matalon, Colter’s (Harley) rival rewardist and former love interest.
In an exciting twist, the eventful episode also features Better Call Saul‘s Patrick Fabian. But since Pernas and Hartley are married in real life, their palpable chemistry ultimately steals the show.
“We love working together,” Hartley told Decider ahead of Season 2’s premiere. “We run lines at home all the time. I bounce things off her all the time, like ‘I was thinking this,’ and ‘I don’t know about this character,’ and ‘Am I reading this the wrong way?’ She does the same thing. We bounce things off each other all the time, just like everything in life.”
In “Bloodlines,” Billie asks Colter to help her find a missing high school baseball star in her hometown, and the two take their relationship to the next level — emotionally! Don’t get me wrong, they’re incredibly hot while making eyes at each other at the bar and effortlessly slipping A+ flirts into casual conversations, but their true feelings shine brightest in moments of honesty.
In another twist, the one who gets the most vulnerable this episode is Billie. From asking for Colter’s help and admitting it’s good to be working with him again to opening up about her difficult childhood and personal family drama, she introduces a compelling new level of intimacy into their relationship that will leave viewers craving more joint episodes.
After Colter’s skeptical team all but advises him to be careful of Billie given their complex history, he definitely has some walls up, but the more Billie lowers hers, the more you can tell Colter longs to let her in.
When the two trackers go their separate ways to investigate, the urge for them to meet back up almost becomes a distraction. (Good thing their phone calls are also hot!) When they handle weapons and sneak around searching for missing people, Tracker becomes a more subdued, survivalist — but still incredibly sexy — version of Mr. & Mrs. Smith. And when Colter ultimately rescues Billie and takes her bleeding head in his hands to examine it, viewers remember there’s still real tenderness and care between them.
It’s not every day you get to watch spouses act alongside each other in such unique, well-suited roles, so here’s hoping we haven’t seen the last of the dynamic duo this season. Every time Billie appears, she successfully raises the stakes and turns up the heat. We only have one request: Next time it’s Colter’s turn to dig deep. (And a kiss wouldn’t hurt, either!)
