Tracker showrunner Elwood Reid has more details on Jensen Ackles’ return in the upcoming second season. After the former Supernatural actor guest-starred as Justin Hartley’s brother, Russell Shaw, it was reported that he would indeed be returning for multiple episodes in Season 2 of the CBS hit. With Ackles back, the show will delve deeper into the Shaw family’s complicated past, and Reid told Entertainment Weekly that Russell will appear during a “climactic moment” in a case Colter is investigating involving UFOS.
“There’s a secret that’s revealed about their father that both brothers know,” Reid shared. “You’ll see that Colter doesn’t have a memory that his brother has about Colter and their father.” Of course, Reid doesn’t share specifically what that secret is and how it relates to Colter and their father, but it should be a little easier to navigate since the brothers have a better relationship since reuniting last season and are no longer strangers.
Season 2 will also see the return of Melissa Roxburgh, who plays Colter and Russell’s sister Dory, meaning that more questions about the Shaw family will hopefully be answered. It’s currently unknown exactly how many episodes Ackles will appear in, but his first appearance will be in Episode 2. As for Roxburgh, that’s still unknown, but it’ll be interesting to see what happens when the Shaw brothers get together. It’s hard to know if Ackles and Roxburgh could appear in the same episode so all three Shaw brothers can be in the same room, but it’s possible.
The Shaw family history is complicated, starting with the death of Colter’s father. After his death, the family was essentially torn apart, and when fans saw Colter reunite with Russell and Dory in the first season, the reunion wasn’t as happy as they had hoped. Now that more information has been revealed about what happened and who their father really is, there’s no telling what will happen and what answers they might find.
Fans will have to tune in to Tracker’s second season to see the highly anticipated return of Jensen Ackles and how the Shaw family will continue to uncover some complicated secrets. Tracker Season 2 premieres Sunday, October 13 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
