‘Tracker’ Shocker: Robin Weigert Won’t Return as Teddi in Season 2 — What’s Next for Velma
It looks like there will be changes to how Colter (Justin Hartley) gets his cases in Tracker Season 2.
According to TVLine, Robin Weigert will not be returning as Teddi Bruin. Teddi and her wife Velma (Abby McEnany) were the ones who brought Colter cases in each episode during the first season. They were only seen at home, communicating with Colter by phone. We’ll have to wait and see how Teddi is written and what that means for her and Velma’s marriage (hopefully, she’s only off-screen).
What we do know is some of what to expect from Velma in Season 2, thanks to some teasing from McEnany at the Television Critics Association summer press tour.
“I just read the first two scripts, and they’re so good,” she told TV Insider in July. “I was just talking to Elwood [Reid, executive producer], when I read the first episode, I was like, oh my God. I’m always surprised and it’s really exciting. I mean, there’s a lot of cool stuff coming up, that I know, and some things that I don’t know yet and I’m really excited to get back to it.” While in the first season, Velma (and Teddi) only interacted with each other in person, that’s changed now. “Fiona [Rene, who plays Reenie] and I, we’ve never worked together,” McEnany pointed out. “In the first episode [of Season 2], we have scenes together and that’s going to be really fun and I’m looking forward to working with Eric [Graise, who plays Bobby] and hopefully Justin. Yeah, it’s great.” It’s constantly changing and the writers are great and the crew is great.” Presumably, whatever leads to Velma and Reenie interacting will be used to explain why we don’t see Teddi.
We also know that the second episode of the new season will see the return of Jensen Ackles as Colter’s brother Russell. In that episode, “you learn that he has very different memories of something that happened in their past that Colter doesn’t remember,” Reid told TV Insider.
