Tracker Season 2 Trailer Completely Misses the Central Story of Justin Hartley’s Record-Breaking Drama
Tracker season 2 is on its way, and in an effort to build hype for the upcoming episodes, CBS has released a trailer that reveals a key aspect of the series but unfortunately leaves out the best part of the story. The CBS action drama, created by Ben H. Winters, is based on Jeffery Deaver’s The Never Game and follows Justin Hartley’s Colter Shaw. Colter is a survivalist and a contract tracker (as the show’s title suggests) who travels across the country tracking people down for a living. While Colter’s work is one of the cornerstones of Tracker, it’s not its biggest draw, as shown in season 1. As the central character of Tracker, Colter’s story (including his mysterious past) is important and complex. Throughout the first few episodes of the series, viewers slowly but surely learn more about Colter and how his past shaped him into the man he is today. Unfortunately, even Colter doesn’t know the full details of his past, including the strange death of his father when Colter was a child. Since Hartley didn’t learn the truth in the finale of Tracker season 1, the mystery will continue into season 2, but one wouldn’t think so based on its first trailer.
The Tracker season 2 trailer, which the show dropped on its Instagram page in late August 2024, is brief but gives us a first look at the upcoming episodes. The scene shows Justin Hartley’s Colter Shaw in action as he returns to his job as a bounty hunter, traveling across the country and tracking people down. Unfortunately, the first trailer for Tracker season 2 doesn’t reveal much about the story of the upcoming episodes or Colter’s cases. However, the video is still building hype as fans begin counting down the days until the October 13, 2024, premiere on CBS. However, one can’t help but notice that there’s something missing from the trailer—it’s missing the biggest story arc of Tracker season 2. The mystery surrounding Colter’s father’s death will undoubtedly play a major role in the upcoming episodes as Hartley’s character continues to try to figure out what happened that night all those years ago. If Russell didn’t kill their father like Colter previously thought, then the pool of suspects is wide open. It’s only a matter of time before the truth is revealed, and hopefully that moment will come in season 2. As mentioned above, the Tracker season 2 trailer is pretty short. There’s only so much information the editors can fit into the video, and they decided to focus on Colter’s job rather than the action movie’s most important story (and give a glimpse of Jensen Ackles’ Tracker’s return). Perhaps the trailer is hiding the teases surrounding the mystery of Ashton Shaw’s death because they’d be revealing too much about the upcoming season. Whatever the case, fans can rest assured that Tracker season 2 will continue to explore what happened to Colter and Russell’s father.
