‘Tracker’: Season 2 Premiere Explains Why Teddi Was Absent After Robin Weigert’s Exit

The first episode of Tracker Season 2 gives viewers answers as to why Teddi Bruin won’t be around much to help Colter Shaw with his cases of the week.

Robin Weigert, who played Teddi in the first season, left the series as a main cast member ahead of Season 2. While the premiere doesn’t go into details, it does explain that Teddi is out of town helping her mother.

“She’s going to be there for a while,” Velma Bruin, Teddi’s wife, Abby McEnany, tells Colter over the phone in the first few minutes of the episode. “She’s helping her mother get things sorted.”

Justin Hartley’s Colter points out that Velma was supposed to be shuttling between the house and wherever Teddi was, but Velma says she felt like she was “getting in the way,” so she decides to go back and help Colter herself again.

It’s unclear whether this means Weigert will be appearing this season, or if Teddi will be staying with her mother for the long haul.

Teddi is a former tour manager for a rock musician who has now settled into a comfortable middle-aged life in North Florida with his wife and a menagerie of pets. Together, Teddi and Velma run Colter’s “backstage”: finding him new jobs, tracking his money, and occasionally helping him get out of jail.

In the premiere, Velma helps Colter track down a family of four who disappeared, seemingly out of thin air, from Pine Bluffs, Arkansas. Velma says in the episode that she will also be helping Reenie (Fiona Rene) open her own criminal law practice this season.
