‘Tracker’ Season 2 Digs Deeper Into Velma’s Past in Episode 5 Sneak Peeks
The pasts of most of the characters on Tracker have been a mystery, but Season 2 explored the characters against the backdrop of missing persons cases. Velma’s life has been somewhat of a mystery to viewers, but that’s about to change in Tracker Season 2, Episode 5, “Preternatural.” According to the official plot of the episode below, Colter finds himself in the supernatural world when a teenager accused of witchcraft goes missing. CBS has released a few snippets from the November 10 episode that show Velma is involved in the case and asks Colter to help find the missing teen because her life story reminds Velma of her own.
“Colter takes a job searching for a missing teen with unique psychic abilities in a tough mining town.”
The above excerpt begins with a phone call between Velma and Colter, in which she informs him of a job. A teenage girl named Emma had gone missing the day before in Kentucky, and Emma’s brother was the one who offered the reward. According to Velma, Emma was raised by her brother after their parents died, which kept her out of the foster care system. The case was not something Colter would normally take on because of the low pay, but Velma convinced him to help Emma’s brother because no one else would. Velma also mentions that the case reminded her of her own.
In another scene, Reenie notices something that is troubling Velma and approaches her. “My mother was institutionalized when I was 12,” Velma reveals. She also says that her sister raised her, which is why she sympathizes with Emma and her brother. “I just think some people are nurtured and some people are trained. And in my experience, those are more interesting,” Reenie offers some deep encouragement to help Velma feel better. It seems to work because Velma smiles.
These teasers reveal Velma’s past as they reveal that she did not have an easy childhood. Her connection to Velma and her passionate plea to Colter will make him especially careful with this case even if the town he will be working in is not very appealing. With the accusations against Emma, this will not be a walk in the park because small rural towns and superstition are not the best combination.
