“Tracker” Loses Key Cast Member Ahead of Season 2

As Tracker gears up for its second season, fans are buzzing about the return of some of the show’s most beloved guest stars. However, there’s also some surprising news: one of the series’ regulars won’t be coming back. Robin Weigert, who portrayed Teddi Bruin—one of Colter Shaw’s trusted handlers and close friends—is exiting the show before its sophomore season.

TVLine reports that Weigert will not return as a series regular for Season 2, though the details surrounding her departure remain unclear. The report does not specify how Teddi’s character will be written off the show or if this exit is a permanent one, leaving fans to speculate about her fate.

Jensen Ackles Will Return to Tracker in Season 2, So Who Is Russell Shaw?

Adding to the intrigue is the fact that Teddi’s on-screen spouse, Velma, portrayed by Abby McEnany, will continue as a series regular in Season 2. This raises questions about how the show will address Teddi’s absence. Will her character face a tragic end, or will she simply step away for a time, leaving the door open for a possible return?

Tracker, starring Justin Hartley as the bounty-hunting Colter Shaw, is based on the book series by bestselling author Jeffrey Deaver. The first season followed a procedural format, with a central mystery that lingered throughout the episodes. This mystery, which revolved around Colter reconnecting with his siblings (played by guest stars Melissa Roxburgh and Jensen Ackles), was partially addressed by the end of the season. However, as Hartley hinted in an interview with Deadline, the resolution of Season 1’s storyline has only set the stage for even more profound questions to be explored in Season 2—particularly surrounding the mysterious death of Colter’s father.

“When you have a show like this, and you end it in such a good way, and you wrap up all these stories in a pretty little bow, it’s cool, and it’s great,” Hartley shared. “But we have a whole other season to shoot that we have to make better than Season 1. So…while we wanted all those storylines wrapped up, we also wanted those bows to sort of lead to other questions—bigger, deeper questions—about his past. So I think we did that in answering some of these questions that we had built up all year. I think we did a good job of making sure that the answers to those questions then lead to a bigger mystery, something that we can unpack in Season 2.”

As Tracker dives deeper into Colter Shaw’s past and the new mysteries that will unfold in Season 2, the absence of Teddi Bruin will certainly be felt. How the show handles her departure could be one of the season’s most compelling subplots.
