Tracker: Justin Hartley-Led Drama Gets a Season 2 Renewal Very Soon
The move from This Is Us is always tough, but Justin Hartley’s first regular role since the NBC drama ended is a major success story.
On Monday, CBS quickly renewed Tracker for Season 2. The new thriller premiered on Sunday, February 11, the day after the Super Bowl, and the network revealed that an estimated 30 million viewers across all platforms have already watched the premiere.
What’s more, it was the No. 1 series on Paramount+ in February, beating out CBS hits like Blue Bloods, NCIS, FBI, and Young Sheldon.
Including episodes that aired in the millions during the show’s regularly scheduled Sunday timeslot, Tracker is currently averaging 16 viewers per episode.
The network also revealed that Tracker was the biggest new series debut since Young Sheldon in 2017 and the most-watched new drama since FOX’s Empire in 2015. Tracker is a hit when other shows are faltering. With broadcast networks seeing declining viewership, it’s nice to know that the right show can still generate enough excitement to keep people watching.
CBS also revealed that Tracker helped improve its Sunday time slot at 9/8c by 83 percent year-over-year.
On a separate note, it also helped CSI: Vegas, which moved to a nighttime slot, post some of its best numbers in years.
“Tracker kicked off our debut week with a bang in the ratings and has kept the momentum going,” said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment. “We knew we had something special when we saw the first cut of the series, and the overwhelming response from audiences confirmed it.
“We are incredibly grateful to Justin, the talented cast, the incredible writing and production team, and our partners at 20th Television for such compelling episodes. And of course, we are incredibly grateful to the millions of viewers who tune in every week,” Reisenbach added.
What is Tracker?
In Tracker, Hartley plays Colter Shaw, a lone survivor who roams the country in search of a bounty.
He uses his unique tracking skills to help citizens and law enforcement solve even the most unimaginable mysteries.
Over four episodes, we’ve watched in awe as Colter navigates these cases while trying to figure out what the hell is going on with his family.
This family has a lot of mysteries that promise to will appear as the season progresses.
