Tracker’ Finale Unveils Jensen Ackles’ Russell’s Mysterious Disappearance After Colter Reunion

Fans of Tracker — and Supernatural — won’t have to wait long for an update on Jensen Ackles’ Russell before he returns in season 2.

In the season 1 finale, which aired on Sunday, May 19, Colter (Justin Hartley) got a lot of updates on his brother Russell. Colter’s case took him to Sandy Point, where he reunited with his friend Lizzie (Jennifer Morrison). While trying to track down Lizzie’s daughter, Colter got a call from Reenie (Fiona Rene), who mentioned her efforts to find Russell.

“Russell’s surfaced. He found me,” Reenie revealed later in the episode. “Sent me a selfie of him at a beach bar in Argentina. Asked if I wanted to go to dinner with him in Buenos Aires. I told him I’d have to say no, I’m a little busy.”

Viewers first met Russell one episode ago when Colter helped him find his missing army buddy. Before the brothers decided to work together, Colter asked Russell if he had killed their father when they were children. Russell denied the story – which came from their mother – and instead said that there was someone else in the woods the night their father was found dead at the bottom of a cliff.

Colter learned more about his father’s mysterious murder from Lizzie. She revealed that her mother had an affair with Colter’s father. Furthermore, their parents had argued before his death and Lizzie later found a box her mother had hidden, filled with Colter’s father’s work. Lizzie told Colter that she had given the items to his sister, Dory (Melissa Roxburgh), who had never mentioned anything to him.
“I don’t know. Actually, I don’t know much. “It’s like I have all these puzzle pieces, but they don’t fit together,” Colter told Lizzie about the bombshells he keeps learning about his family. When asked what he’s up to, Colter replied “nothing,” as the episode ended with him surfing in Sandy Point like he did when he was a kid with his dad.

The CBS procedural is expected to delve deeper into Colter’s past when the show returns for season 2. Meanwhile, Hartley, 47, teased what fans can expect from the next season — starting with the returning guest stars.

“Sofia [Pernas] is coming back. Jensen [Ackles] is coming back. Melissa [Roxburgh] is coming back,” he told Collier earlier this month. “They’re all coming back.”

After sharing the screen with Hartley, Pernas said the episode “opens the door” for a possible continuation.

“I love her. She’s a great character. She’s trying to hide a lot of things because she’s obviously very vulnerable,” she told Entertainment Tonight that same month. “I think that’s what’s great, watching both of them play. Obviously he’s very confident and commanding and powerful when he walks into the room, but I think, because of their history and everything that’s going on, it’s great to see that vulnerability in that vulnerability.”

Tracker has been renewed for a second season on CBS. All episodes are available to stream on Paramount+.
