‘Tis the season! Virgin River season 6 sets pre-Christmas release date
Netflix gave us an early Christmas gift this year, and it’s the Virgin River season 6 release date. Although the highly anticipated sixth season of Netflix’s fan-favorite romantic drama was previously set for a 2025 return, the series has now officially been confirmed for a release date in 2024. The full 10-episode sixth season of Virgin River premieres Thursday, Dec. 19 on Netflix!
The official Virgin River Instagram account shared the exciting release date news directly with fans. Along with the release date announcement for season 6, Netflix dropped a carousel of new images from throughout the season, which tease a glimpse at Mel and Jack, a pregnant Lizzie, and more first looks of all our favorite characters! Virgin River season 6 premieres in December 2024
It’s going to be a happy holiday this year, as Virgin River season 6 hits our watch lists on Dec. 19. As fans know all too well, it’s been over year since season 5 wrapped its airing in November 2023 with a pair of Christmas episodes. The first part of the fifth season dropped with 10 episodes in September 2023. Unfortunately, filming on season 6 was delayed due to the strikes.
Because of the writers’ and actors’ strikes, it was unclear whether Virgin River season 6 would be able to make a 2024 release after filming between February and May. However, in August, series star Alexandra Breckenridge teased that the series would in fact make its grand return this year. As we know now, season 6 will make its arrival just under the wire before the year ends.
When we last left our favorite Virgin River characters, Mel was tracking down her birth father, a man name Everett who lives in town. Although he denies he’s her father at first, he later tells Mel the truth and has another little something to tell her, too. Meanwhile, fans are eager to find out if season 6 will finally see Mel and Jack take a walk down the aisle and get married.
While we’re waiting to see if Mel and Jack tie the knot, there are plenty more answers to come in season 6, including what’s next for Doc and Hope amid Doc’s clinical trial, how Lizzie’s faring with her pregnancy and Denny’s health, Brie’s ever-evolving love life with Mike and Brady, and not to forget, the body that was found and will soon be connected to Preacher. Lots to unpack!
Clearly, there’s a lot to look forward to in Virgin River season 6, including potential weddings, babies, and new relationships. But series star Martin Henderson will also be taking on a new role in season 6 beyond playing Jack. Henderson will be directing an episode of the season! It’s all happening this season, and we can’t wait to receive the best Christmas present in our watch lists in December.
