There’s More Family Secrets to Uncover in Tracker Season 2
The first season of Tracker introduced us to the mystery of the Shaw family. The show only scratched the surface of that mystery, and Tracker Season 2 will bring us even more.
In the first season, we learned that the Shaw siblings were separated after their father’s death. Colter stayed with his mother, Dory went with her aunt and uncle, while Russell joined the military. They were raised very differently, and it’s clear that they were all told different things.
It’s time to explore why they were separated. The only way to do that is to introduce a character we haven’t seen since the beginning of the series.
Mary Shaw Will Return in Tracker Season 2 TVLine shares that Wendy Crewson will return as Mary, the mother of the Shaw siblings. She last appeared in the second episode, and she told Colter not to trust Russell. While Russell tried to contact his brother, Mary tried to stop him. However, that didn’t happen. Russell and Colter eventually reunited, and in part because of Dory’s words.
“We still need to build up what really happened [after] their father’s death. Remember, Dory went to live with her aunt and uncle… [Russell] went into the army…. They each have parts of their story, from different perspectives, that they never shared with Colter.”
What’s going on with Mary? What happened after the Shaw patriarch died? It’s time to explore that, and we’ll do that by looking at some of Mary’s motivations.
Why does Dory have some of their father’s journals in Tracker?
Colter knows that Dory has some of their father’s journals. It’s clear that his siblings are hiding something from him, and Colter wants to understand why. Both Dory and Russell are hiding parts of their stories from him.
Mary keeps saying she wanted to protect Colter. But why would she want to keep Colter away from his siblings? We want to believe that she did what she thought was right, and maybe she did.
Someone killed Colter’s father, and Russell says it wasn’t him. He says someone was there that night. Could it be that Mary knew the best way to protect her children was to keep them separate? Does Dory only start digging because she’s been given freedom by her aunt and uncle? Does Russell have some freedom and understanding because of where he was that night?
There’s a lot to unpack about the Shaw family mystery, and Tracker Part 2 promises to do just that.
