On the September 16 episode of Days of our Lives, Theo wondered why Chad wasn’t a part of DiMera’s plans to get their company back from the Kiriakis family. Chad said he’d been there, done that, and wasn’t interested anymore. But why was Theo asking? Could it be because he’s looking to fill that role now?
An Heir, a Spare, and a DiMera — Where?
Considering what a charmer and ladies’ man Tony (Thao Penghlis) is, it’s kind of astounding that he has no biological children. (Being held prisoner for long stretches at a time did somewhat cut into his peak reproductive years.) And yet, as the self-appointed patriarch of the DiMera family, Tony needs an heir. He certainly isn’t about to hand over the family empire to EJ (Dan Feuerriegel), or to Johnny (Carson Boatman). They’re both too lightweight.
And forget about having Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) or Rachel (Alice Halsey) in charge. They’re psychopaths. Jake (Brandon Barash) is dead (as are Andre and Renee), Stefan (also Brandon Barash) and Dimitri (Peter Porte) are missing, Megan (Melinda Wilson) is a fugitive, and Chad (Billy Flynn) withdraws his hat from the ring. This just leaves… Theo (Tyler Joseph Andrews, who promised surprises on DOOL).
Lexie’s Son Has Potential
Theo is Tony’s nephew via his mother, Lexie (Renee Jones). (Who returned as a ghost to chat with Abe [James Reynolds] and save Paulina [Jackée Harry] recently.) And he may be Tony’s best bet for an heir who will run the DiMera family the way Tony believes it ought to be run.
Theo is smart, Theo is thoughtful, and Theo is… untethered. He just lamented to Chad how both his relationships with Ciara (Victoria Konafal) and Claire (Olivia Rose Keegan) have imploded. He’s ready to take a break from romance. And bury himself in his work?
Can Abe’s Son Be Bad?
Theo’s journey to the dark side has a built-in conflict with his straight-arrow dad, Abe. And what about his going head-to-head with his stepmother, Mayor Paulina?
Plus, chicks dig bad boys. This could be the romantic break Theo has been waiting for! Which means Tony may have found exactly the heir he’s been looking for.
