The series finale aired six years ago, wrapping up each character’s arc with satisfying conclusions. But how old were they when it all ended, and how old are the actors now? Here are the real-life ages of the cast members compared to their characters by the end of the show.
Leonard Hofstadter – Johnny Galecki
Leonard was 27 at the start of the show and 38 by the finale. Johnny Galecki, who is five years older than his character, is now 51.
Sheldon Cooper – Jim Parsons
Sheldon was 27 in the pilot and 39 when he won the Nobel Prize and married Amy. Jim Parsons, now 52, was seven years older than the character.
Penny Hofstadter – Kaley Cuoco
Penny started out at 21 and ended the show at 33. Kaley Cuoco, who plays her, is 39 today, just slightly older than Penny was in the finale. She was the youngest member of the group on screen.
Howard Wolowitz – Simon Helberg
Howard was around 25/26 at the show’s start and 37/38 in the finale. Simon Helberg is 48 now, only about a decade older than Howard at the end of the show.

Amy was 30 when she first appeared and 39 by the finale, winning a Nobel Prize alongside Sheldon. Mayim Bialik, now 50, is four years older than Amy’s character.
Bernadette Rostenkowski-Wolowitz – Melissa Rauch
Bernadette was 25/26 at her introduction and 35/36 by the end of the series. Melissa Rauch is 48 today, roughly 12 years older than Bernadette was in the finale.
Stuart Bloom – Kevin Sussman
Stuart was 34 when he first appeared and 45 by the finale, while Kevin Sussman is now 54, making him the oldest among the main cast.
