The Unseen Path: Tyler’s Journey if FBI: International Season 5 Happened

We’re still not happy that CBS canceled FBI: International after four seasons, especially considering there were clearly storylines being set up for a fifth season. What if FBI: International season 5 had happened? What could that have meant for Agent Tyler Booth?

After all, it certainly looked like Tyler was being set up to be a series regular if FBI: International season 5 was confirmed. He could have even taken over an empty space left by either Vo or Raines’s exit based on whoever got the promotion in the United States. That would have meant working with Wes more, and maybe causing more issues for Smitty.

Tyler would have likely joined the Fly Team in FBI: International season 5

I do feel like the series was setting up for either Raines or Vo to leave the Fly Team. This would have opened up a spot on the team for Tyler to take it full-time, and he likely would have. While he initially only guest-starred for a few episodes, he then came back revealing that he enjoyed the travel so much and his college-aged daughter didn’t need him so close by anymore.

Wes would have likely offered a permanent place on the team to him if one came open. After all, he clearly liked working with his friend, and the two had a similar mindset when it came to getting justice for the victims. They weren’t afraid to cut corners, even if it meant breaking the law themselves.

This would have given Wes someone else to talk to about his half-sister. I think Amanda would have been a great option, but Tyler already knew Wes from the past, and he knew about Wes’s father, Dean. Their bond would have continued to grow, until however long Tyler realized that he really wanted a promotion.

Tyler could have caused more issues for Smitty in FBI: International

Smitty was never a fan of Tyler and his rule-breaking ways. She has to make sure the working relationship between the FBI and local authorities is a good one, and Tyler kept making things difficult. When a promotion opportunity came up, Smitty made it clear that she wasn’t going to lie on her report about what happened in Paris.

This tense working relationship would have likely continued going into FBI: International season 5. It could have led to Smitty realizing that she couldn’t continue to work with the Fly Team, as Wes likely wouldn’t have stopped Tyler from acting above the law to get justice or revenge.

However, I would have loved to see more interaction between Tyler and other members of the Fly Team. He spent a lot of time with Wes, developing Wes’s character as well as his own with the likely intention of continuing that in the new season. If he was joining the Fly Team full-time, he would need to interact with Amanda, Smitty, Raines, and Vo more.
