A few weeks ago, the eighth season of The Rookie was ordered by ABC. Even after seven years, the long-running police series still impresses with great characters and a great mix of humor, suspense, action, and romance. It’s no wonder it’s going into its eighth season.
Start date: When is season 8 of The Rookie coming?
The good news : Season 8 of The Rookie has been ordered and will begin production soon. This was announced in early April. So there will definitely be a reunion with John Nolan, Bailey, Chenford, and all the others.
The bad news: We’ll have a long wait. Like seasons 6 and 7, season 8 won’t premiere this fall, as is usually the case with network series. Instead, it won’t begin until next year— not until early 2026. So, we’ll have to wait almost nine months for new episodes, as Collider and others report.
Given that high-quality series in the streaming age often take more than two years to deliver new content, the gap is bearable.
Streaming service: Where will season 8 be shown in Germany?
Like season 7, season 8 of The Rookie will likely be shown exclusively on Sky and WOW * in Germany for the time being. We hope that Sky will also bring the new episodes of season 8 to Germany with only a short delay of a few days.
Cast: Who stars in The Rookie Season 8?
Since there are no new additions or departures to report so far , the cast will likely remain largely unchanged. For now, we can assume that all the big names from the sprawling ensemble will be there. However, an unplanned exit, like Tru Valentino’s before season 7 , is still possible.
The actor himself didn’t yet know whether the recently seriously injured rookie Seth ( Patrick Keleher ) would also be back in season 8. His story could be over, especially since the main cast is already enormous.
Plot: What happens next in season 8 of The Rookie?
Nothing is known about the plot yet, but a lot can be deduced from the finale of season 7. Above all, fans will of course be interested to see what happens to Chenford (Lucy Chen + Tim Bradford) after Lucy passes her sergeant exam.
After endless back and forth, the two can now finally officially call each other boyfriend and girlfriend without any secrecy or resentment. However, the different work schedules of their day and night shifts seem to be getting in the way. Series creator Alexi Hawley does n’t want to torment Lucy and Tim any further . Melissa O’Neil also says of her co-star: “He’s ready.”
Things will also be interesting for John Nolan, as he just missed out on the felon Oscar Hutchinson ( Matthew Glave ) in the season finale. He’s already been confirmed for season 8 —after all, he’s appeared in every single season.
