Jenna Dewan may have wanted to participate in a popular social media trend, but the video she posted for it has fans questioning what’s happening with her character on The Rookie.
The actress is back to filming the ABC drama’s season 7, after taking time off for maternity leave (she gave birth to her third child, daughter Rhiannon with fiancé Steve Kazee, back in June). In between portraying Bailey Nune onscreen, Jenna decided she’d post a video using the “demure” trend on TikTok with a montage of her wearing various costumes for her role. As her look transitioned from Bailey’s first responder uniform to her wearing makeup that made her look like she got hurt, she used Jools Lebron’s voice explaining the trend to overlay the clips.
“Very cutesy 💅 @The Rookie Universe,” she captioned the snippet on August 15.

When fans watched Jenna’s latest video on the social media platform, her looks left them concerned. Mainly, folks had questions about Bailey’s storyline going into a new season of The Rookie.

“Guys I have a feeling Bailey’s going to get like kidnapped,” one person wrote in the comments. “Bailey’s going through it this season 😭😭😭 ,” another penned. “Oh no Bailey please tell me [you’re] not gonna die or get kidnapped [please],” a different follower added.
Viewers may remember Jenna’s character has gone through a lot since she first appeared on The Rookie starting in season 3. When Bailey first was introduced, fans learned she had an abusive ex-husband, Jason Wyler (played by her real-life partner Steve). While the series later showed him going away to prison, the season 6 finale saw him escaping prison and seemingly on a mission to find his ex-wife. In fact, The Rookie showrunner Alexi Hawley alluded to more drama between the former couple.
“Without spoiling too much, because I don’t know everything at this point, I think Jason’s probably the most immediate problem,” he told TVInsider back in May. “I think obviously Jason is the one with the most specific, the most harmful intent towards anybody on our show at the moment.”
With Bailey’s ex seemingly coming for her as she tries to expand her family with husband John Nolan (Nathan Fillion), we certainly are intrigued by what’s to come when the show returns.
