The Office: The Best Christmas Episodes in the Series, Ranked-dt01

The Office is one of the most beloved sitcoms ever and the love for it has never gotten any lesser despite the fact that it went off air in 2013. With its ensemble cast and an incredible writing team pushing the limits to deliver even more comedic episodes, the show has made a permanent place in our hearts. While all episodes of the series are hilarious at their own levels, the writers took it to an entirely new level for the holiday episodes. There is no better time than now to take a look at all the seven Christmas episodes. For the uninitiated, there are only seven of those because Season 1 had only 6 episodes and Season 4 was produced during the writer’s strike of 2007-2008.Even those seven episodes have given the fans enough amazing Christmas moments that will stand out for years to come. That said, below is a ranking of the episodes to find out which of these episodes made Santa’s nice list and which of them get a lump of coal.

7. “Christmas Wishes” (Season 8)

The Office without Michael Scott always feels a little off, and this episode never quite reaches the magic of earlier holiday specials. Andy tries to give everyone a “Christmas wish,” and the Jim–Dwight prank war escalates thanks to Erin and Robert California. It’s fun, but not iconic.

6. “Dwight Christmas” (Season 9)

Dwight’s “authentic Pennsylvania Dutch Christmas” is delightfully strange—enter Belsnickel (“Impish or Admirable?”). Although it has strong moments, the episode leans more quirky than classic. Still, Dwight pelting Jim with nuts? Legendary.

5. “Moroccan Christmas” (Season 5)

Phyllis running the party planning committee is already gold, but the real story is the intervention for Meredith after her hair catches on fire. It’s chaotic, uncomfortable, and deeply The Office. Michael’s attempt at rehab kidnapping pushes it to dark-comedy brilliance.

4. “Secret Santa” (Season 6)

Michael’s meltdown over Phyllis being Santa—as well as his decision to become “Jesus”—is peak Michael Scott energy. The gift-giving is sweet, the humor lands, and the episode balances heart and absurdity well.

3. “Classy Christmas” (Season 7)

A two-parter with emotional weight. Michael’s excitement over Holly’s return mixes comedy with vulnerability, and Dwight’s epic snowball war against Jim is one of the series’ most brutal prank arcs. Stylish, funny, and surprisingly heartfelt.

2. “A Benihana Christmas” (Season 3)

Two rival Christmas parties. Michael marking his date’s arm with a Sharpie. The “Carol” confusion. Andy singing “Take Me Home, Country Roads.” This episode is stacked with memorable moments and showcases the ensemble at its finest.

1. “Christmas Party” (Season 2) — 🎁 The GOAT

The original and still the best. The Yankee Swap (or “Nasty Christmas”), the iPod vs. teapot drama, Jim’s teapot note, the booze-filled party—this episode set the template for every chaotic Dunder Mifflin holiday that followed. It’s funny, sweet, and perfectly captures everything fans love about The Office.
