The Nanny Complete Series Available To Stream In April On HBO Max

All six seasons of The Nanny will be available for streaming on HBO Max starting April 1. This is the sitcom’s streaming platform debut.

All of the episodes The Nanny will be available for streaming on HBO Max starting in April. The Nanny first premiered on CBS in 1993 and ran for six seasons up until 1999. Fran Drescher starred in the title role of Fran Fine, and it proved to be a breakout role for her.

E! News confirmed that The Nanny will soon be available to stream on HBO Max. Fans may have forgotten that the iconic sitcom wasn’t already available for streaming on any platform. Now, fans of the show can stream the sitcom in its entirety starting April 1. Drescher is likely on board with The Nanny’s HBO Max release as she has been drumming up ways for the show to return. Not only has she pitched a revival but is also currently working on a Broadway musical adaptation of The Nanny.

The Nanny follows a cosmetics saleswoman who is fired from her job and dumped by her boyfriend. She ends up becoming the nanny to the three children of a rich English widower. As time passes, the two fall for each other.

HBO Max has become increasingly more engaging as the year has gone on. It was announced at the end of 2020 that the entire Warner Bros. 2021 feature film lineup will be released on the streaming service. Each film will be available for one month starting from when it releases in theaters. Then several of its original series became Golden Globe nominees this year like The Flight Attendant, The Undoing and Lovecraft Country. Now, 90s sitcoms fans can rejoice as The Nanny is set to air on HBO Max with a Friends revival in the works.

The episodes of The Nanny on HBO Max are not in the right order on the streaming platform. The hit comedy series was created by its star, Fran Drescher, along with Peter Marc Jacobson and premiered on CBS in 1993 running for six seasons. Drescher stars as Fran Fine, who was recently dumped and fired by her fiancé and stumbles upon a wealthy and widowed Broadway musical producer, Maxwell Sheffield, and is hired to be a nanny to his three children. The show also stars Charles Shaughnessy, Daniel Davis, Lauren Lane, Nicholle Tom, Benjamin Salisbury, and Madeline Zima.

It was announced that the entire series will be available for streaming on HBO Max beginning this month, which means that viewers will be able to revisit and enjoy the Jewish humor and the fun-loving characters of the show. The series features the relationship and sexual tension between Fran and Maxwell, the snide and savage comments of Niles the butler towards C.C. Babcock, Maxwell’s business partner, and Fran’s eccentric friends and family, as well as her exquisite fashion taste. The show being available on the streaming service leaves many viewers a chance to discover the show as well, but with the way the episodes are presented, it may lead to some confusion.

It has been discovered that a lot of episodes of The Nanny are extremely out of order when presented on HBO Max, specifically in the earlier seasons. The episodes of the show following the pilot are shuffled around a bit, with the third episode ‘My Fair Nanny’ being listed as the eighth and the ninth episode ‘Personal Business’ being listed as the fifth. That is also the case with the first half of the second season with some episodes featured onto the first season instead, and additionally the season three finale ‘A Pup In Paris’ is not featured as the last episode of that season on HBO Max. You can see the order of episodes as it currently stands in HBO Max below:

While the episodes being out of order is not entirely tumultuous since the show’s early seasons feature separate storylines that do not continue in the following episodes, it is still concerning for longtime fans who are aware of the correct order. And with certain episodes being not in their correct placement, it can lead to many inconsistencies about the show and certain story developments, especially when it comes to cliffhanger finales.

Of course when certain television and shows and movies get moved to a streaming platform, problems can arise, such as the quality of the content, the aspect ratio, or things being modified. But The Nanny still has its devoted fan base after over two decades of being off the air and its popularity continues to grow with the series now being adapted into a Broadway musical by Drescher and Jacobson with Crazy Ex-Girlfriend creator, Rachel Bloom. Hopefully, the problem will be resolved soon so people can watch The Nanny in the order it is supposed to be watched.
