The Mandalorian Star Says Work on Season 4 Is ‘Getting Ramped Up’
The actor has teased the development of the new season of The Mandalorian on Disney+.
The Mandalorian star Brendan Wayne has revealed on social media that work on Season 4 of the Star Wars series is gaining steam now that the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes have been resolved.
Posting on Instagram, Brendan Wayne said that work on Season 4 is currently “getting ramped up”, implying that filming could begin at some point in the near future. Wayne, who has been involved with the show since the pilot, plays The Mandalorian for the vast majority of scenes when the bounty hunter’s helmet is on. Pedro Pascal, who is the face of Din Djarin when he’s unmasked, has often been busy when production on the show has been happening. This was the case during Season 3, which filmed at the same time as the hit HBO series The Last of Us. Wayne stepped in to play the character along with Lateef Crowder, and the duo have worked with Pascal to help nail down the character’s physical mannerisms. Wayne’s post can be seen on Instagram.
Series creator Jon Favreau confirmed earlier this year that the scripts for every episode of the fourth season have been written, saying to BFMTV, “We have to know where we’re going to tell a fully-formed story, so we had mapped it out, [executive producer] Dave [Filoni] and I, and then slowly you just right each episode. So I was writing it during post-production [on The Mandalorian Season 3] because all of it has to feel like a continuation, one full story.” Rumors suggested that filming was set to begin this fall, but the SAG-AFTRA strikes seemingly put an end to this plan.
The Mandalorian Season 4 Will Reportedly Feature a Familiar Face
Rumors over the summer gave fans a hint at what’s to come in Season 4 of the Jon Favreau-created Disney+ series. Leaks suggest that Boba Fett will be returning in The Mandalorian season 4, after he failed to appear during Season 3 of the show. The fan favorite bounty hunter made his triumphant return to the franchise during the first episode of Season 2, and he went on to become an ally of Din Djarin.

The same reports also suggested that Season 2 of The Book of Boba Fett is not in active development at this moment in time at Lucasfilm, a disappointing update for avid fans of the cult hero. The first season didn’t get quite as good reviews as The Mandalorian, but they did set the seeds for a potential second outing, such as Boba Fett’s new team of allies and Cobb Vanth’s return after being shot by Cad Bane.
