Released in 2019, “The Mandalorian” is considered one of the best and most unique series in the “Star Wars” franchise, focusing on space battles and modern weaponry, along with the rare appearance of the Force and the signature lightsaber duels. After three hugely successful seasons, director Jon Favreau brought the work to the big screen with “The Mandalorian and Grogu” to continue the emotional adventure.
The Mandalorian and Grogu continues the events of the three seasons of The Mandalorian. This is a rare series in the Star Wars universe that doesn’t revolve around the battles of the Skywalker members. Instead, the film is set several years after Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi (1983). The seasoned Mandalorian mercenary Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) is hired by the remnants of the Empire to capture Grogu, a child of Yoda’s kind.
However, Din Djarin develops feelings for Grogu and decides to protect him as if he were his own son. Together, they embark on many adventures fighting against enemies. According to the trailer for *The Mandalorian and Grogu*, they appear to be given a new mission by Ward (Sigourney Weaver), the leader of the New Republic.

The adventure takes the mercenary and Grogu to the arena of Rotta the Hutt (Jeremy Allen White), the son of the notorious crime boss Jabba the Hutt from the original three Star Wars films. Alongside this, they also encounter many ferocious alien creatures and, notably, the Empire’s massive AT-AT Walker war machines.
The Mandalorian and Grogu promises to be another epic and emotional adventure for fans of the Star Wars or The Mandalorian series, especially since the team behind the success of the previous three seasons remains the same: director Jon Favreau, screenwriter Dave Filoni, and producer Kathleen Kennedy.
In the newly released trailer, alongside the familiar Pedro Pascal, The Mandalorian and Grogu surprises with the appearance of two new faces: Hollywood legend Sigourney Weaver as Colonel Ward, a veteran pilot of the New Republic, and Jeremy Allen White (Emmy Award-winning star) as Rotta the Hutt, son of Jabba the Hutt.
Sigourney Weaver is a living legend of science fiction through roles such as Ripley in the Alien series and Grace Augustine in the globally acclaimed Avatar series. The appearance of these two A-list actors promises to bring new depth to the Star Wars universe, while also increasing the appeal of the most anticipated film of 2026.
The Mandalorian and Grogu is scheduled to premiere on May 22, 2026 in theaters nationwide.
