“The Hottest Love Stories from Firehouse 51: Chicago Fire’s Most Sizzling Romances Ranked”

Chicago Fire has had its fair share of romances, whether casual or marital, and eight have occurred between co-workers at Firehouse 51. Unfortunately, given the nature of the relationships, most of the corporate relationships on One Chicago have failed. After all, dating someone you work with can be tricky. Only a few of Chicago Fire’s Firehouse 51 romances have actually worked out, while the rest have fizzled out over the show’s 13 seasons. Many of Chicago Fire’s fan-favorite relationships have been between someone who works at Firehouse 51 and someone who doesn’t. For example, Wallace Boden and Donna Robbins had a happy and healthy marriage on the NBC procedural, but Donna wasn’t part of the Firehouse 51 cast, meaning they can’t be included on this list. The same goes for Randall “Mouch” McHolland and Trudy Platt (who worked in the Chicago Police Department’s 21st Precinct) and Christopher Herrmann and his wife, Cindy. However, some of Chicago Fire’s most memorable and interesting romances were between coworkers.

Some may have forgotten that Sylvie Brett and Joe Cruz were a couple on Chicago Fire, and it’s hard to blame anyone for erasing them from their memories. Brett and Cruz are better off as friends because there’s no spark between them. The writers tried to push two fan-favorite Chicago Fire characters together, but it always felt forced because it was clear that their dynamic was closer to brotherly than romantic.

The good news is that Brett and Cruz’s romance didn’t last long in Chicago Fire season 3. The paramedic and firefighter soon realized what everyone else already knew—they worked much better as friends than romantic partners. As a result, Brett and Cruz broke up and developed a great friendship over the years. Brett escaped Chicago Fire in season 12, while Cruz remained at Firehouse 51, and both got their happy endings.

Blake Gallo and Gianna Mackey had a brief romance, with Adriyan Rae (who played Mackey) appearing in just nine episodes of Chicago Fire season 9. So theirs was another forgettable relationship. However, the attraction between Gallo and Mackey was clear from the moment she walked into Firehouse 51. Mackey, who grew up in the same neighborhood as Cruz, was the new paramedic after Emily Foster left, and despite Cruz’s insistence that she was not romantically involved with Gallo, Mackey hooked up with Gallo.

However, Gallo and Mackey never put a label on their relationship. Their feelings for each other never went deeper than physical attraction. Their relationship ended before it really began when Mackey moved to Firehouse 33 in Chicago Fire season 9, episode 9, and that was the end of their otherwise forgettable story.
