The Good Doctor season 7 trailer teases the heartbreaking final episodes. First airing on ABC in 2017, the medical drama follows Freddie Highmore as Dr. Shaun Murphy, a young surgeon with autism and savant syndrome who works at the prestigious St. Bonaventure Hospital in San Jose. Other than Highmore, the only other series regular in The Good Doctor cast remaining from season 1 is The West Wing’s Richard Schiff as Shaun’s mentor, Dr. Aaron Glassman. Since its premiere, the show has consistently been one of the network’s most popular and most-watched medical dramas.
Just under one minute long, the official trailer teases the heartbreaking final episodes while continuing several storylines from the last season, including the birth of Shaun and Lea’s son, Dr. Glassman feeling betrayed, and Park and Morgan adopting an orphaned baby.
Everything Revealed By The Good Doctor Season 7 Trailer
The Good Doctor season 6 ending saw the birth of Shaun and Lea’s son, Steve Aaron Murphy, named after Shaun’s late brother and his surrogate father, Dr. Aaron Glassman. However, after Glassman suffered a ministroke and Shaun tried to end his career as a neurosurgeon, he felt betrayed and was absent for Steve’s birth. Continuing these storylines, the season 7 trailer opens with Shaun seemingly performing an intense operation, though he’s actually changing his son’s diaper. Shaun soon leaves for his first day back at the hospital and tells his wife and son he’s going to miss them.
Meanwhile, Dr. Glassman is still miffed at Shaun for accelerating the end of his career as a surgeon. Elsewhere, Dr. Alex Park (Will Yun Lee) and Morgan Reznick (Fiona Gubelmann) are raising a newborn baby named Eden, who is diagnosed with heart failure and needs a new aortic valve to prevent the condition from worsening. A new dad himself, Shaun volunteers to perform the surgery which, after two and a half hours, goes horribly wrong, though he refuses to abort the procedure, setting the stage for a dramatic final season of The Good Doctor.
