The Golden Bachelor’s Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist announce divorce just three months after televised wedding

The duo got married in an emotional televised ceremony on January 4 after meeting on The Golden Bachelor in August.

Gerry, 72, and Theresa, 70, discussed their shocking split on Good Morning America.

On the show, they admitted that they couldn’t make their long-distance romance work.

“Theresa and I have had a number of heart-to-heart conversations and we’ve looked closely at our living situation,” Gerry shared on GMA.

“We’ve come to the decision mutually that it’s probably time for us to dissolve our marriage.”

“They captured the hearts of millions on The Good Bachelor – now Gerry and Theresa sit down for an emotional interview only on GMA,” the show wrote on their official Instagram account ahead of their interview.

Fans shared their outrage at the abrupt separation in the comments, insisting they weren’t surprised and that the duo had “rushed the wedding.”

“What a joke! Does she get to keep the ring?” one asked.

“Surprised? Why do people even watch this?” another raged.

“I knew this would happen. They didn’t even live together,” a third pointed out.

Gerry and Theresa had been living thousands of miles apart in the lead-up to the split announcement.

“What an amazing 927 hours that they had,” another user commented sarcastically.

“Cancel the Golden Bachelor!!! Shouldn’t have rushed the wedding,” someone else demanded.

Gerry and Theresa tied the knot in a lavish ceremony at La Quinta Resort & Club in Palm Springs, California, in January.

The duo – who reunited on Celebrity Family Feud on Monday – exchanged vows in an emotional moment on the two-hour live ABC broadcast.

All of Gerry’s exes from The Golden Bachelor were in attendance, including fan favorite, Susan Noles.

Susan became such close friends with retired restauranteur Gerry and Theresa that they asked her to officiate the ceremony.

While the couple was at the altar, the cameras cut to Gerry’s runner-up, Leslie Fhima, during the tear-jerking scene.

Fans were quick to slam ABC producers for the “petty” shot of Gerry’s ex.

Gerry and Theresa sparked split rumors earlier this month when it emerged that they were doing long distance.

The ABC star is staying at his northern Indiana lake house while his spouse is still residing in New Jersey, TMZ reported.

The difficulties involved with moving were listed as one of the reasons for the physical separation.

“They’ve each got their own established homes in their respective states, and moving everything into one pad would be time-consuming,” a source said.

Theresa is still working her job in New Jersey as a compliance officer.

The pair were also reportedly concerned about moving away from their families and were considering Charleston, South Carolina, as a middle ground for where they would eventually settle.

Gerry proposed to Theresa on the November 30 finale of the first season of The Golden Bachelor.

They reunited in Indiana in mid-March and Gerry shared photos from his granddaughter Charlee’s volleyball game in Indianapolis.

They were last seen together on Monday while appearing on Celebrity Family Feud with their children.

Gerry posted several photos from the show, including with two daughters, Angie and Jenny – who he shares with his late wife Toni.

The second shot was a selfie of the leading man with Theresa, her daughter Jen, and Jen’s husband Matt.
