The Golden Bachelorette’s Joan Vassos Reveals Golden Bachelor Fallout Amid Gerry Turner’s Damaged Reputation

The Golden Bachelorette star Joan Vassos opened up about how her dating life took a disturbing turn after appearing on The Golden Bachelor. Joan first appeared in The Golden Bachelor season 1, as she and 21 other contestants competed for lead Gerry Turner’s heart. Joan ended up quitting The Golden Bachelor after she felt she needed to be by her daughter’s side after the latter gave birth. Gerry went on to marry Theresa Nist, though their relationship quickly ended. Joan is getting a second chance at love as the star of The Golden Bachelorette season 1, which recently filmed.

The Golden Bachelorette ‘s Joan Vassos received troubling messages on social media after appearing on The Golden Bachelor .

While speaking with EW, Joan revealed the troubling messages she received from so-called fans after appearing on The Golden Bachelor as she attempted to move on with her life. She admitted she received inappropriate photos from men and heard from “people with foot fetishes.” Joan explained that these people were interested in paying her to send them photos of her feet. Then there was someone who wanted to purchase “all the shoes” she wore while on The Golden Bachelor. It got to the point where Joan’s children intervened so they could block the people sending her disturbing photos and requests.

The Golden Bachelorette Star Now Gets A Second Chance At Love

Joan called the situation “weird,” “horrifying” and downright uncomfortable. The Golden Bachelor alum found it difficult to navigate that process since the people sending her photos and surprising requests were “total strangers.” Even when she ended up chatting with men who were seemingly normal and not creepy, she never moved forward with trying to date them since a lot of them “lived in…different states” than the one she lives in, which is Maryland. Sometimes, she would have “cute little conversations” with men and admit she was flattered by the attention, but again, relationships never materialized.

According to EW, The Golden Bachelor contestants April Kirkwood, Leslie Fhima and Nancy Hulkower also experienced similar disturbing incidents as they dealt with the fallout of appearing on a reality show. April received the same types of unsolicited photos, as well as a request to have an intimate situation with a married couple. As for Leslie and Nancy, the Golden Bachelor runner-up and ninth-place finisher have been “hit on by way more young men” than men their own age.

It’s extremely creepy for The Golden Bachelor women to receive unsolicited and inappropriate photos. No one would blame any of them if they disappeared from social media completely. Joan didn’t need to accept the offer to star on The Golden Bachelorette–she easily could have gone back to a private life–but she realized that having a second chance at love in such a unique environment was worth it. Hopefully, her experience this time around goes better, both in terms of finding love and the online messages, as she moves on from Gerry and seeks out her own happily ever after.
