Joan Vassos is ready to give away a golden rose as she embarks on “a great adventure” as the first-ever Golden Bachelorette when the show premieres September 18 on ABC.
The network shared the first promo for the Golden Bachelor spin-off on Monday, showing the 61-year-old mother and grandmother at dinner with her family while discussing how she’s preparing for the show and what she’s looking for in a partner.
“I’m very picky about a man being a gentleman, somebody with a big heart, somebody who’s generous, and also, somebody who’s humble,” said Vassos while sitting at the head of her dinner table.
When it comes to kissing on camera, Vassos admitted, “I’m gonna have to get used to that, because you don’t want to be with somebody you don’t want to kiss, so you have to try it out.
“I’m gonna probably kiss a fair amount of guys on camera, I’m sorry guys,” she told her kids.
Vassos previously competed for 72-year-old Gerry Turner‘s heart on the inaugural season of The Golden Bachelor last year after her husband of 32 years died of pancreatic cancer. She ultimately left the show during week 3 due to a family emergency.
“Thank you so much for all your support,” Vassos told her family at the table. “I’m not here to replace dad. I just want our family to be whole again.”
Featuring singles 65 and over, The Golden Bachelor debuted last September with its November finale drawing the franchise’s best audience in nearly four years. Vassos was announced as the star of the spin-off’s inaugural season in May.
