The Golden Bachelor: Theresa Nist’s Major Life Announcement Will Help Her Forget Gerry Turner

The Golden Bachelor season 1’s Theresa Nist has been going through a very public divorce from Gerry Turner, but her recent announcement makes her whole world better. Theresa, the 70-year-old widowed financier, was one of 22 eligible older bachelorettes who competed for the heart of The Golden Bachelor. Theresa had been married to the love of her life, William Nist, for 42 years, until he passed away in 2014.

Gerry, the 72-year-old retired restaurateur, was also a widower. His wife of 43 years, Toni Turner, passed away in 2017. From the moment Theresa stepped out of the limo on night one of The Golden Bachelor season 1, she had Gerry’s attention. In the end, he chose her, and the two were married in a televised January wedding. Despite high hopes that Gerry and Theresa had found love again later in life, the marriage only lasted four months. They announced their divorce in January. However, Theresa just got some news that made her forget all about her heartbreak.

In June, Theresa posted a video to Instagram in which her daughter announced that she was going to have a baby. Upon receiving the news, Theresa cheered and jumped out of her chair. This wasn’t The Golden Bachelor season 1 star’s first rodeo. The mother of two has six grandchildren already, but she is nonetheless thrilled to prepare to welcome number seven. Since all six of her grandchildren are boys, perhaps she’ll get a girl this time.

Theresa was one of the front-runners throughout the inaugural season of The Golden Bachelor. Despite getting into some conflict with one of the other women vying for Gerry’s heart, Gerry narrowed the women down to Theresa and 65-year-old fitness instructor Leslie Fhima. Though he told Leslie that she was “the one”, Gerry gave his final rose to Theresa.

Why Theresa And Gerry Broke Up
They Couldn’t Make It Work

By the time Theresa and Gerry fell in love on The Golden Bachelor, they had both lived full lives. Theresa lived in New Jersey, where she and her late husband raised their children. Gerry lived in Indiana, in the dream home he had built with his late wife. Neither were willing to sacrifice being near their children and grandchildren, and a long-distance marriage simply wasn’t sustainable.
