Since announcing her divorce from The Golden Bachelor’s Gerry Turner, Theresa Nist has been keeping herself busy, and trying to forget the failed marriage. It wasn’t the first marriage for the 70-year-old day trader, who tied the knot with the love of her life, William Nist when she was only 19 years old. Sadly, after 42 years of wedded bliss, and two children, William passed away in 2014. Theresa was happy on her own, but when the opportunity arose to appear on TheBachelor spin-off, the grandmother of six decided to go for it.
Like Theresa, 72-year-old Gerry was a widower who was given a second chance at finding love on The Golden Bachelor season 1. Gerry was married to his beloved wife, Toni Turner, for 43 years before she died in 2017. Gerry and Theresa didn’t have much luck being married to each other, as they announced their divorce just three months after their lavish televised Golden Bachelor wedding. Since the split, Theresa has been desperately trying to stay busy, to distract herself from the disappointment of her failed marriage.
Theresa Regrets Marrying Gerry
She’s Unaccustomed To Failure
Theresa was a widower before joining the cast of The Golden Bachelor season 1, but now she’s officially a divorcee too. Her long marriage with her late husband was undoubtedly a huge success, while her three-month marriage to Gerry was a debacle of epic proportions. Theresa barely knew Gerry when they walked down the aisle just a few months after the season finale aired, and she probably wished she had waited longer before making such a huge decision.
Luckily, Gerry and Theresa had a prenup, so they both walked away from the marriage without incurring any financial damage.
Theresa Has Stayed Busy
She Puts Family First
When Gerry and Theresa got married, hopes were high for the couple, but it wasn’t enough to bridge the distance between them. Theresa lived in New Jersey while Gerry lived in Indiana, and neither wanted to sacrifice moving away from their respective families. Since the divorce, Theresa leaned on her family for support and distraction, trying to lose herself in family time. Theresa was thrilled that her family was growing, as the grandmother of six recently announced that her daughter was pregnant with Theresa’s seventh grandchild.
Theresa Will Never Be Able To Erase Her Failed Marriage
It Will Always Be Part Of Her Story
Though it’s understandable Theresa would like to forget about her failed marriage it would always be a critical part of her life. She used to be a widower, but now she’s also a divorcee. Rushing into marriage was a big mistake that put Gerry on the same level as her husband of 42 years. For this reason alone, Theresa’s experience on the inaugural season of The Golden Bachelor will follow her around for the rest of her life.
