NCIS season 22 revealed a lot of information about Parker’s family history, but came briefly in concluding the mysterious storyline regarding the correlation between Eleanor’s death and Lily. Throughout NCIS season 22, Parker enlists Palmer to help him discover more about his mother and Lily, while also keeping the findings discreet. Later, the NCIS season 22 finale shows Palmer having a strange reaction to reading Eleanor’s death certificate.

While the season ended before Palmer could reveal exactly what he saw that made him question the report’s findings, it clearly was not good news. Whatever Palmer read could then lead to Parker discovering that Eleanor never actually died in the car crash that the local news reported on. The whole thing could have been a cover-up.

However, from the shock of Eleanor’s death, Parker could have repressed any memory from that time. This would explain Parker’s confusion about Lily’s presence in his mind. Now, after years of avoiding the memory of Eleanor’s funeral, Parker could be hallucinating Lily, who was present at Eleanor’s accident, as a way for him to uncover the truth in NCIS.
