The Gilded Age Season 3 Adds 4 To Its Cast Including Cosby Show & Evil Alums

The Gilded Age has added a quartet of new cast members. The show, which was created by Downton Abbey’s Julian Fellowes, takes place among the upper crust of New York City society in the late nineteenth century. The ensemble cast of the HBO show includes Carrie Coon, Morgan Spector, Louisa Jacobson, Taissa Farmiga, Harry Richardson, Jack Gilpin, Cynthia Nixon, and Christine Baranski. The upcoming The Gilded Age season 3 was officially renewed in December 2023, just days after the season 2 finale aired.

Per Deadline, four new stars have joined the cast of The Gilded Age season 3. In a recurring capacity, Phylicia Rashad will play the uncompromising and wealthy Mrs. Elizabeth Kirkland, who closely watches over her son, while Jordan Donica will play her family member, the kind-hearted Dr. William Kirkland. They do not report whether William is Elizabeth’s son or related to her in some other way. As guest stars, Brian Stokes Mitchell will play Elizabeth’s husband, pastor Frederick Kirkland, while Victoria Clark will play old money mother Joan Carlton.

Where You Know The New Gilded Age Cast Members
All Four Of Them Have Starred In Well-Known Projects

Before joining the Gilded Age cast, all four incoming stars appeared in prominent projects both on both the big and small screens. This includes the guest stars, as Victoria Clark has played supporting roles in a wide variety of titles, including The Blacklist, The Happening, and Anastasia. Brian Stokes Mitchell, on the other hand, is a Broadway legend who has been nominated for four Tonys, winning one for a revival of Kiss Me, Kate, though he has also held a long-running television role as Dr. Jackpot Jackson in Trapper John, M.D.

Recurring star Phylicia Rashad is also a legend who is likely best known for playing matriarch Clair Huxtable on The Cosby Show. The six-time Emmy nominee has more recently appeared in The Beekeeper, the Creed trilogy, and tick, tick… BOOM!. Jordan Donica has the shortest resume of the foursome, but one of the roles under his belt was also quite long-running, as he played Jordan Chase on 43 episodes of The CW’s supernatural drama reboot Charmed, having joined the main cast of the now-cancelled show in season 2.

tick, tick… BOOM! featured a musical number that showcased cameos from real-life stage legends, including both Phylicia Rashad and Brian Stokes Mitchell, making The Gilded Age something of a reunion for the duo.

After the Gilded Age season 2 finale, it seemed possible that a new season might not be able to top the storytelling of the previous installments. However, this new cadre of talent that is joining the show has a wealth of experience that should help them deliver deep and compelling characters who push the drama to new heights. The fact that three of their characters are all members of the same family should also help the newcomers bounce off of one another well as they stir up drama with the pre-existing characters.
