The onetime Balboa Island home of Buddy Ebsen, best known for his role as Jed Clampett in the 1960s TV comedy “The Beverly Hillbillies,” has sold for $5 million.

Built in 1965, the waterfront house has six bedrooms and four bathrooms. The home is set at the point of Balboa Island’s South Bayfront, with sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean, Newport Harbor and channel, the Balboa Pavilion and city lights.

Bruce Miller, who listed the home in January, said he was moved by the outpouring of love for Ebsen in the community.

“I would have 200 people at a Sunday open house. Everybody wanted to come in and tell me a story about what they knew about Buddy Ebsen. Everyone had a great story,” said Miller, of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties in Corona
