“SEAL Team” actor Justin Melnick is now recovering at home after falling from a helicopter during a private commercial shoot on Saturday, Variety has confirmed. Initial reports emerged last night claiming that a stunt performer had plunged roughly 15–20 feet while fast-roping from a helicopter near Blue Cloud Movie Ranch in Santa Clarita, California. According to the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Office, the Los Angeles County Fire Department transported the injured man to a hospital, where he was treated for non–life-threatening injuries.
A representative for Melnick told Variety that he is safe, doing well, and healing at home, emphasizing that the shoot had no connection to the series “SEAL Team.” The dog involved in the stunt with Melnick is also recovering and reported to be in good condition.

Representatives for Blue Cloud Movie Ranch did not immediately return Variety’s request for comment.
Melnick — who also works as a police officer — is widely recognized for his role as Brock Reynolds on CBS’s “SEAL Team.” Before becoming a recurring cast member, he joined the production as the show’s dog handler. He is the real-life handler and owner of Dita, the Belgian Malinois who portrays Cerberus, the K9 unit dog, on the series.
Speaking to Variety in 2018 about his work with Dita, Melnick explained, “Dog trainers always say your emotions travel through the leash — the dog knows exactly what you’re feeling.” He described the connection with Dita as unique and deeply meaningful, adding, “It’s just a bond. I’ve never experienced anything like it.”
