Hank Voight has always been a complex character—a leader with a dark side. But there’s one scene that was cut from Chicago P.D. that could have changed the way fans saw him forever.
Filmed during Season 6, the scene reportedly showed Voight breaking down privately after a morally questionable shooting. Unlike his usual composed demeanor, this scene showed real regret, shaking hands, and even tears. Jason Beghe, who portrays Voight, pushed for the scene to remain in the final cut, believing it would add depth to his character.
But showrunners cut it. “They didn’t want to soften him,” one writer admitted anonymously. “They were afraid viewers wouldn’t recognize him.”
Beghe reportedly disagreed with the decision, arguing it would’ve shown that Voight’s decisions carry emotional consequences. “He’s not a monster,” Beghe told cast members. “But they want him to be one.”
The footage remains unaired, and Voight’s emotional walls remain up. But fans wonder: what would the show feel like if we’d seen that breakdown?
