TVLine can exclusively reveal that Zoe Perry — who famously succeeded her mother, Laurie Metcalf, as Young Sheldon’s mom on the Big Bang Theory prequel — will recur opposite Metcalf during the seventh and final season of ABC‘s The Conners (premiering Wednesday, March 26 at 8/7c).
Perry will appear in two out of six Season 7 episodes as a cop who gives Jackie a hard time about considering rejoining the police force at her age. Check out a photo of mother and daughter below:
On Roseanne, Jackie joined Lanford P.D. in Season 2 — one of several careers she attempted after leaving Wellman Plastics, but before she and Roseanne opened The Lunch Box. Thirty years later, on the hit spinoff The Conners, Jackie retired and handed the restaurant over to Darlene’s daughter Harris. However, in the Season 6 finale, both Jackie and Dan realized they were not cut out for retirement, and contemplated getting new jobs to help afford Mark’s college tuition — a storyline that may (or may not) have something to do with Jackie’s renewed interest in law enforcement.
Perry, who continues to recur as Mary on CBS’ Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, is no stranger to the Roseanne franchise. In fact, she made her on-screen debut during the original run of Roseanne, where she was first cast as a younger version of a role her mother made famous; she appeared in two episodes, during Seasons 5 and 7, as pint-sized Jackie.
The Conners’ farewell run will bring the Roseanne franchise’s 17-season haul to a close. Including Roseanne Season 10, the revival will have aired eight seasons total — just one season shy of Roseanne’s original nine-season run. Combined, Roseanne and The Conners will have produced a whopping 343 episodes.
