The Clint Eastwood movie stars Luke Grimes in Yellowstone

Sheridan liked Grimes in American Sniper
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Luke Grimes expressed how excited he was to join the cast of “Yellowstone.” He revealed that he was immediately smitten with the character of Kayce Dutton and was sold on the project because he had been a fan of Taylor Sheridan’s work. He knew he had to fill the role and Sheridan felt similarly.
The “Yellowstone” creator had his eye on Grimes because of the 2014 Clint Eastwood movie “American Sniper,” which he watched while writing the show. The war film is based on “American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History” by Chris Kyle, a respected marksman whose military success causes his personal life to decline.
Grimes plays Marc Lee, a Navy SEAL killed in battle. “So the correlation between Kayce being a Navy SEAL and seeing me do that in American Sniper, I think, made him understand that maybe I could play a role like that,” he said. told THR.
