The Big Bang Theory has yet another new spin-off series
Big Bang Theory favourite Mayim Bialik is buzzing with anticipation at the prospect of diving back into the show’s universe with the latest spin-off, reports the Mirror US.
The 49 year old star, who won hearts as Amy Farrah Fowler in the titular CBS series, feels she’s not quite finished with her character’s story.
With Young Sheldon already a hit, and last year’s debut of Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage, the Big Bang alumni have more to explore this time focusing on Stuart Bloom’s world, the quirky comic book shop owner.
Pressed about dusting off her Amy Farrah Fowler persona for a return, Bialik revealed to TV Line: “I would 100 percent reprise Amy.”
Bubbling with enthusiasm, Bialik confessed: “I have no qualms about that. I think it would be fantastic.”
Despite her eagerness, Bialik’s phone hasn’t been ringing off the hook for the new series just yet.
But the former Jeopardy! host isn’t a stranger to revisiting old ground; she’s cameoed in Young Sheldon, the first Big Bang spin-off with Iain Armitage playing a precocious young iteration of Sheldon.
With three guest spots under her belt, Bialik even graced the finale as an older Amy, sharing a tender if cheeky moment with Sheldon.
All said, while Bialik is chomping at the bit to rejoin the fray, her former screen partner Parsons seems content staying on the sidelines for now.
Parsons, 51, previously said he wouldn’t return to his iconic role as Sheldon in an interview with Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace?, stating: “As we sit here now, no. But also I never say never to anything, because life just changes so much.”
The new spin-off will see the return of veteran characters Stuart, Denise (Lauren Lapkus), and Ben Kibbler (Brian Posehn).
In the original series, the comic book store where Stuart worked gained significant popularity, leading him to hire Denise as his assistant manager.
Denise’s extensive knowledge of comic books posed a threat to Amy, as Sheldon found himself increasingly drawn to her.
In a twist, Amy asked Denise to teach her about comics, allowing her to pretend to share Sheldon’s interest.
