Jim Parsons has proven his acting mettle with his Sheldon Cooper role in The Big Bang Theory. Being one of the show’s primary protagonists, his portrayal hugely contributed to keeping the show alive in audiences’ hearts even now.

Although the character garnered quite a spotlight, it also featured many memorable guest cameos that equally made the series iconic. Among these, Judy Greer’s cameo stands out as an underrated gem, delivering one of the show’s most hilarious scenes without Parsons being in it.

Who Did Judy Greer Play in The Big Bang Theory?

Judy Greer has already cemented herself with her versatile roles in both comedy and drama. Apart from standing out on the big screen, she made herself known in the Television industry with her starring voice role as Cheryl Tunt in the Archer animated series (2009–2023) and as Lina Bowman in the Married (2014–2015) sitcom.

She also made a guest appearance in the episode titled The Plimpton Stimulation in Season 3, Episode 21 of The Big Bang Theory. The 48-year-old actress played Dr. Elizabeth Plimpton, a renowned cosmological physicist who visits the university where the main characters work.

Her performance adds a humor layer to the episode as she also turns out to be a sexually adventurous personality who has an apparent taste for science geeks.

It was obvious that Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) who was the official host of Dr. Plimpton was more interested in her work but the latter had another plan. Having gotten to know about Cooper’s roommate, Leonard Hofstadter (Johnny Galecki)’s breakup, she set her sights on him.

Given that Leonard was excited for her arrival whom he admired both professionally and personally, her intention completely caught audiences off guard, let alone the geek.

She made bold and unapologetic advances towards Leonard, making the episode more hilarious. However, it is the actress who embodied the character perfectly, bringing the deadpan comedy and confidence that Plimpton donned in the show.

Judy Greer’s Cameo in The Big Bang Theory is an Underrated Gem

The episode kickstarts with Sheldon inviting his fellow physicist to his home, who came to Pasadena for an interview at Caltech. Since Leonard was already smitten with her work, he became more interested in her, leading to hot and heavy moments between the two. This even leads Sheldon to get angry over his roommate for sleeping with his guest.

However, her moments with Leonard are more than enough to fill the show with comedy (who can forget the surprise strip lecture that she personally delivered to Leonard).

But, this was far from what Dr. Plimpton wanted as later in the episode, we witness her trying to sleep with Raj Koothrappali (Kunal Nayyar). She left everyone in awe when she tried to convince the duo along with Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg) into a group action.

Her calm yet bold deadpan comedy juxtaposed the men’s shocking reactions, which made the sequence more hilarious. Her cameo surely served as a testament to her acting prowess and comedy range, proving that talented guest cameos can also add flavor to the series.

It is worth noting that her cameo in a single episode left a long-lasting impression, that continues to make roar among audiences even now.
