On March 20, the actress shared on Instagram the heartbreaking news of the passing of Blue, her partner Tom Pelphrey’s dog. This loss comes only weeks after Kaley said goodbye to her own puppy, King, whom she had welcomed in June 2023.
Although Blue originally entered Tom’s life before Kaley and Tom became a couple, the actress developed a deep bond with him. In an emotional post, Kaley shared how Blue initially wasn’t keen on sharing Tom’s attention but eventually embraced her and their growing family.
“💙 BLUE 💙 I have cried harder over the loss of this gorgeous creature than I have in a long time,” Kaley began in her heartfelt caption. “We’ve had to put down three dogs in the past year, and this one has made me reflect deeply. I’m crying for @tommypelphrey… The relationship he had with Blue was so special. They were quite the duo, traveling the country as a team…job to job, then driving home to California where we all settled as a family together.”
Kaley described Blue as fiercely loyal and protective of their family. When their daughter Matilda was born, Blue adapted to his role in the household with gentle kindness. “Matilda came, and Blue turned to mush like the rest of us,” she wrote. “He was the quiet mascot of our home, but Tom was and will always be his one and only. They saved each other. Blue, it was an honor to be your second favorite human down here on Earth. I can’t wait for you to meet Norman, Sasha, Kingy, and Dumps.
