Before their days at the comic book store and Caltech, Simon Helberg and Kevin Sussman shared the screen in an unexpected place — the 2006 Hollywood satire For Your Consideration.
Directed by Christopher Guest, the film pokes fun at the entertainment industry’s obsession with awards season. The story follows a group of actors who begin hearing rumors that their modest film Home for Purim might earn Oscar nominations.
While Helberg and Sussman appear only briefly, the film features memorable performances from Catherine O’Hara, Parker Posey, and Jennifer Coolidge.
Behind the scenes, the two actors also share an interesting connection to The Big Bang Theory: Sussman was originally considered for the role of Howard Wolowitz before the part ultimately went to Helberg. Sussman later joined the sitcom as Stuart Bloom, becoming a recurring favorite among fans.
